How is landfill gas produced?
Landfill gas is a complex mixture of gases produced during the microbial decomposition of organic matter under anaerobic conditions in landfills. Its main components are methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). In the absence of oxygen, specialized microorganisms convert complex organic matter into methane and carbon dioxide.
